Hotels
Travel accommodations will be clean, safe and comfortable—it's not the Ritz, but it is everything you need from a hotel.
You'll probably be rooming with three or four other college student travelers in your group (unless you got a room upgrade to a twin or a single room). Each room has its own private bathroom.
Keep in mind that hotels abroad don't always have all the amenities you're used to in the States (there may be no AC, no elevator). These little differences are part of the travel experience, and you'll have all you need to rest well at night, leaving plenty of energy for the action-packed days.
Free Time vs. Tour Time
Most days of your trip will have at least one group activity (highly recommended to join). When there's nothing planned, it's your chance to take advantage of the city as only you can. Check out a museum, sit at a café and people-watch, go on a hike—anything you want. Just get together with some people in your group and take it all in.
If you need some direction, your Tour Director will always point you toward the best options. You can also start thinking before your trip. The free time suggestions on your itinerary page (on this site) can get you started, and be sure to check out our online

Communicating with EFCB
In the weeks and months leading up to your tour, your EFCB Travel Consultant is available to answer all your questions and to prepare you for your trip abroad. On the trip, the EFCB Tour Director takes over as your go-to resource for any questions you have.
While abroad, you’ll almost always be within reach of an EF office or school—we have them in 51 countries around the world. We also have a 24-hour emergency number (617-619-1411), which you can call collect at any time. EFCB is always there for you.
Meals
Trying the local food is one of the best parts of traveling, and definitely the tastiest. That's why we don't include most meals, giving you the freedom to eat what you want during your trip. All breakfasts are included (at the hotel) and so is a welcome dinner on your arrival day, but otherwise it's up to you.
Transfers
Depending on your itinerary, you may have some long bus or train rides between cities. These transfers are a great chance to soak in the beautiful countryside scenery (and to catch up on some sleep).
Some of our Europe trips include an overnight train ride. You'll stay in sleeping cars (couchettes) with bunks. Another quintessential European travel experience, the overnight train is an ideal way to get you from here to there.
Tour Directors
Your EFCB Tour Director is the heart and soul of your trip. Tour Directors take care of all the logistics (hotels, buses, sightseeing tours, etc.), but they're much more than your average group travel guide. They'll suggest free-time activities, give you inside tips on the locale, take you to the hottest nightspots, and just may become your best friend by the time your trip is done.
Your Group
Your EFCB tour group will be made up of college students from all over the U.S. You’ll be able to get to know each other before your trip abroad in our EFCB Community. Once you’ve landed at your destination and gone through passport check and customs, you’ll meet your fellow travelers face-to-face (along with your EFCB Tour Director). And of course, after you return home, you can stay in touch, share photos, and keep the memories alive online in the EFCB Community.
How EFCB Runs Trips
Group travel with EF College Break is a fun, unique way to see the world. We run our tours on specific dates during Spring Break, Summer, and New Year’s, and college students like you sign up and join. Then we put you all in a travel group, and together you experience the world's most exciting destinations.
